Saint-Jean L'Aigle à LONGWY, Large oval earthenware dish, de - Lot 22
Saint-Jean L'Aigle à LONGWY, Large oval earthenware dish, decorated with "Château GAUNOUX Meursault" enamels in circled relief depicting the château's coat of arms surrounded by vine shoots in low relief, all on a cracked white ground, maker's mark below, mention hors série, made for the owners of the restaurant "Chez Geraud" Paris 16ème, Dim. 45 x 55 cm. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity and delivery. FAIRWARE FROM THE RESTAURANT "CHEZ GÉRAUD", rue Vital, PARIS 16th. This establishment (now known as "La Causerie") was founded in 1989 by restaurateur Géraud Rongier, a friend of Jean-Pierre Coffe. The owner's solid reputation has been established around a fine gastronomic table and a décor entirely entrusted to Belle Epoque ceramics, notably represented by the famous signature of Steinlen, a contemporary of Toulouse-Lautrec. The façade of this conservatory of Parisian folk art, the interior frescoes and the tableware were created by Meilleur Ouvrier de France Jacques Peiffer and the Lorraine faïencerie Saint-Jean l'Aigle de Longwy, based on STEINLEN's original work "La Rue, 1896" in the Musée de Sarreguemines.
